Hi, I’m Jessica and welcome to Jessica Buckton Therapy!

I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work Degree who has been working as a therapist for 10 years. I know, from experience, how overwhelming and difficult it can be to find the right therapist. My hope is that my website can be the first step in helping you feel more comfortable and confident in your search. Areas of Focus

  • ADHD

    Are you someone who has been diagnosed with ADHD or suspect you may have it? Do you feel your ADHD is impacting your ability to function effectively day-to-day? ADHD can affect several areas of life, including but not limited to organization, attention, focus, time management, emotional regulation, sleep difficulties, and more. As someone who has been diagnosed with ADHD, I understand the struggle all to well. I can help you learn how to work with your ADHD, harness all the incredible strengths you already have and thrive.

  • Stress & Burnout

    Sometimes life just comes barreling at you and it feels like you’re doing all you can to just keep your head above water. Maybe you feel like you have no time for yourself or the things you want to do. Or maybe you feel like you “should” (note: I despise this word) be doing more, but you’re just too exhausted. Everyone’s situation is unique and I can help you identify what might be contributing to the feelings of stress and burnout and how to find relief.

  • Anxiety & Low Mood

    Would you describe yourself as a worrier? Maybe you find yourself ruminating on something that happened in the past or thinking about everything that might go wrong in the future? And what about your mood? You may be feeling a bit down or blah, possibly feeling dissatisfied with life right now. Anxiety and low mood can impact your sleep, appetite, physical health, relationships and social life. They can also lead to patterns of unhelpful behaviours that feed the cycle but feel impossible to get out of. We can work together to identify what’s not working and find what can work to reduce those feelings of anxiety and low mood.

  • Relationship & Family Issues

    Sometimes the relationships in our lives can add unwanted stress. You may feel unfulfilled in your relationships or feel undervalued and underappreciated. Maybe you feel like you give way more than you receive, whether it is with family, friends or a romantic partner. Sometimes we find ourselves repeating the patterns we witnessed in our family growing up and those patterns just aren’t working for you anymore. We can explore what’s working and what’s not working in those relationships. Maybe a shift in communication would be helpful or maybe implementing some boundaries (note: this is my favourite word) can help you experience the types of relationships you deserve (hint: you deserve respectful, caring, and loving relationships).

Therapy in the comfort of your own home

Jessica Buckton Therapy is a fully virtual counselling and therapy practice that offers services to adults within the province of Ontario. What this means is that all sessions are provided by either telephone or video call, choice is yours! I can appreciate that virtual therapy is not for everyone,  but for those that are interested, it can offer a number of benefits such as convenience, no travel time, ability to be in the comfort of your own home and more.
